These Are the Promises

"These Are the Promises"

Lyrics

Verse 1
For God so loved us
The worthy Lamb was slain
If we believe, we have eternal life
Since God has lavished
The perfect love on us
We share the news that Jesus is alive

Chorus
These are the promises on which we stand
These are the truths that will not fail
We share the Word of God with the world
Through us God’s love and grace prevail

Verse 2
Our God is faithful
If we confess our sins
The Lord forgives and purifies each soul
Since God has saved us
And Christ has made us whole
We can forgive as Christ forgave us all

Chorus

Verse 3
Our God is gracious
And gives us all good things
Each perfect gift wrapped in the Father’s light
Since God has blessed us
We freely give to all
And spread the love of Jesus far and wide

Chorus

Verse 4
Our God is with us
And stays right by our side
The Lord upholds us with a righteous hand
Since God is for us
And gives us strength each day
We show our faith by trusting in God’s plan

Chorus

About this hymn:  "These Are the Promises" is a hymn I wrote to remind us that we can trust God's promises to us in His Word.  Our faith deepens when we claim God's promises, and in turn we are invited to respond as we share God's love with others.  May we be reminded of God's faithfulness and goodness as we sing and claim these truths together.

Colossians 3:16

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
