Rise Up

"Rise Up"

Verse 1
Rise up today and stand as one
In love and unity
Let’s recognize each child of God
Created beautif'lly
Engraved upon God’s loving hands
Each one of us by name
Completely known and loved by God
Each beating heart the same

Verse 2
Reach out to all humanity
For we define the church
May we look inward at the heart
To see each person’s worth
Our lovingkindness brings great hope
To those in deep despair
We’re called to be the light of Christ
A beacon everywhere

Verse 3
For some the day has now arrived
The truth no longer hides
The chains of hopelessness and fear
Replaced by joy and pride
May we rise up together strong
Embracing human hearts
Proclaiming God’s great love for all
With freedom to impart

Verse 4
Receive God’s love that never fails
No ridicule or blame
A love that will not let us go
An everlasting flame
Regardless of identity
Or sexuality
Christ died for all and welcomes all
Into eternity

Primary Scripture Inspiration:  Mark 12:30-31
Secondary Scripture Inspiration:  John 3:16

About this Hymn: "Rise Up" was written to encourage the body of Christ to stand in unity in loving all of God's children.  It challenges us to look inward to see each person's worth, and it reminds us that we are called to love all people, regardless of identitity or sexuality. Christ came as the expression of God's love to the world, and we have the promise that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
