Holy Spirit, Fill This Place

"Holy Spirit, Fill This Place"

Broken, shattered dreams unwind
Scattered pieces left behind
Who will come to lift us up?
Holy Spirit, fill our cups

Overflow with hope
Overflow with peace
Overflow with joy
May you never cease
O let us feel your sweet embrace
Holy Spirit, fill this place

Judging, hateful wounds that scar
Broken spirits, heavy hearts
Who can cleanse the hurt we feel?
Holy Spirit, touch and heal

Troubles, trials, dark and bleak
Sickness, sorrows, frail and weak
Who can ease this endless pain?
Holy Spirit, fall like rain

Holy Spirit, fill this place

Primary Scripture:  Romans 15:13

About this Hymn:  Romans 15:13 tells us that our God is a God of hope who fills us with joy and peace as we trust in him.  The Holy Spirit is our helper, our advocate, and our comforter.  When we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and into our worship, we can overflow with hope even during times of great trials and tribulations.  In
2 Corinthians 1:5, Paul the Apostle wrote, "For just as we share in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ."  I have never met a person who has avoided suffering in their life.  This hymn was written to remind us that God is in the midst of our suffering and has given us a helper to ease our pain and embrace us with God's peace and love.

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
